Description

Cosmetic bags.

These easy projects help build confidence in using an overlocker. I recently bought a second hand Bernina 2000de. (After wading through Amazon reviews) I purchased and recommend Chris James’ The Complete Serger Handbook as a comprehensive text on how it works and how to get the perfect stitch. And Georgie Melot’s Ready, Set, Serge has quick and easy projects to get you started.

The larger of the two, is a gun metal grey twill with felt lace flocked across it. The smaller is a pink garden jacquard.

These are really lovely – sounds like your “serging ahead” in leaps and bounds! I love the pink one (always a sucker for pink . . )

I love love love my serger… I bought a Juki Garnet series secondhand as well about a year ago, and it changed my sewing life! The book Sew U Knits by built by Wendy, was sooo helpful in learning how to use my serger to make knit clothing a cinch. I strongly recommend it, and it comes with patterns that are very easy to customize… just beware that the patterns are HUGE so compare against other knit garments you own to get the size right… my latest serger creation won the apron contest here a few months ago and are doing great in my etsy shop (atomicaprons) so- I really encourage you and all sewers to get a serger, and learn to love it, it will shave hours off of garment finishing and allow you to make things you never dreamed of with your regular sewing machine!

Thanks for the recommendation – I have just ordered the book based on your advice (and your tip on sizing will be a BIG help). Yes, a serger opens up the world of professional looking finishing! I am excited. And I will check out your etsy store now, too
      ;)
