I just made this pair of pants for hanging out at home, I had that stripe serge fabric with some body (around 220gr/m I would say). I really struggled to follow the magazine’s instruction and had to look online for tutorial (I usually sew skirts, tops and dresses, no pants) as well as using my common sense. I wouldn’t recommend it for a brand new beginner, or at least make sure you can get help from someone more advanced.
It is a fun project though, just read through and through the instructions before cutting!
Have fun!

Those are seriously fun pants. I think they want to go out, not just stay at home lounging.
