Description

I just love a neat little frock and this McCall’s pattern is just perfect. The neckline is a lovely deep curve with four tucks gently shaping from the neck into the bodice. The fit is slim through the waist with a real 50’s feel. Tucks from the waistline give a bit of volume without adding bulk and the addition of side pockets make this a 10 out of 10 for me.
I made it up in a checked wool initially and though the results were great this was extremely painful. I had to change the tuck positions and generally fiddle for weeks before all the checks matched. The gray version here is in a plain stretch fabric and literally took about a quarter of the time to make. The lessons we learn……

Material Notes

Gray cotton Lycra stretch fabric, 22" zipper, fusible interfacing, hook and eye

LOVE IT! So worth the effort you have put into it. Your workman ship shows. You have a great sense of style.

This is really beautiful! I made this pattern, too…mine turned out way too big in the back and waist. I used a plaid – I totally sympathize with you on the matching! But – it’s a vision thing sometimes with the fabrics we choose.

The neckline is such an eye catcher! I’ll have to try to make it sometimes.
