I made this two years ago but never got round to posting it. I’m still waiting for the day when I can wear it…..I love historical costume but have moved onto making stuff I can actually wear everyday.
Indian printed cotton, lined with another old bedsheet.
My dad for taking the pictures

thanks! I live in the UAE and I got the fabric in a shop over here – it was actually indian sari fabric – mostly cotton i think.

i say whatever to “what we can wear these days” and you should just wear it! hopefully so that the trend will leak and start again (as they always seem to do…)

Lovely dress. Where did you get the fabric? I have been meaning to make some of these dresses for me and my sisters, but I have been having trouble finding authentic looking fabric, but this looks great, and isn’t too plain. great job!!

What a wonderful dress! Personally I don’t think you need an excuse to wear something as beautiful as that… If the weather allows it. The fact that you made it out of cotton does make it more wearable on a day-to- day basis….

Oh, it´s so wonderful! I do love the pattern and the fabric looks very true to the orginial! and even your hairstyle matches perfectly. sigh Did you use any pattern? Or how did you make it? How many fabric did you use?

So very beautiful! Maybe you could have your own party so you would be able to wear it. By the way, your father did a wonderful job on the photos.

So pretty! I made my first regency and then looked for an event to wear it. I dragged my husband English Country Dancing and he loved it! Maybe there is an English Country Dance group near where you live? Then you’d have an excuse to wear such a beautiful dress.

What a lovely dress. I almost wish we did still wear dresses like this. Pictures are beautiful too.

Very beautiful! Regency was such a great period in women’s fashion. I think that silhouette, done without the sleeves, can make for a really dramatic (and very comfortable) spring & summer daytime dress.

I love your dress so much! And the pictures looks so great too (your dad did a good job). You look like you’re at a filming location for a Jane Austen movie.
I want to make some Regency dresses someday too, but like you also think I need to make more stuff that can be worn everyday. So I want to make some empire waisted shirts that I can wear with jeans as a compromise. But your dress really inspires me to make my own someday. Thank you.
