The Coffee Date Dress by elainemay was the base for this dress…I changed it abit…added a waist band area, and a knife pleat hem ruffle…instead of the top ruffle, which I will add to the black satin one I’m doing next(my little black dress).
I made it with some vintage 36"fabric I got for 3$ at a garage sale, the french blue cried out for french seams too…so I took my time and the inside looks as nice as the outside now :) I hope to make a cute jacket now to top it off. My honey has agreed to take me out too! LOL
cotton vintage cloth, 36"wide by 3 yards
Coffee Date Dress, and my honey for saying he’ll take me out in it if I made it :)

Thank you for posting the finished result, it did give me some information on how to piece this together. There is no description of how to put this together in my download so my dress is still a mess, sitting in pieces neatly cut out on my worktable. Have you got some instructions or photo’s of how you made yours to share? That would make my day.

Excellent job! I can’t believe this is your first dress! I assume you’ve done other sewing projects. The hem feature is a great addition. Keep it up girl!!

Very cute and suits you to a T. I love how you took your time to do the french seams, a good call with the fabric, style and how the dress sits you on. Hope your Honey took you somewhere nice :)

Wow. The inside of yours looks a bazillion times better than the inside of mine. But now I want to figure out how to do those French seams, too! Nice work, lady!

Thank-you all! Since getting my machine in October I wanted to make my own clothes and quilt too….oh, and french seams (on straight seams like this dress) aren’t as hard as people think..try them, it feels so much nicer on the inside :) And they didn’t take too long at all really, but I go slow as is !!LOL This was my first full dress and I hope to make a black satin one of this pattern very soon(like when payday comes!). And yes I am in Grande Prairie Alberta :)

This is a great interpretation of the dress and the french seams look great as do the pleats. The material is perfect. Great job on it!

Very nice! The pleated detail at the bottom is lovely, and I’m super-impressed by your french seams (ms impatient has spoken), and oh, the fabric is adorable!
