Description

This is my first from-pattern sewing project in years! The pattern is elainemay’s Coffee Date Dress made up in sea foam green cotton. My sister helped me decide not to include the ruffle because I would look too much like a mermaid with my red hair.

What I Learned:
The white version is a “muslin” which was a new idea to me. I also learned how to do french seams and blind hem for this project. Next time I will make the pattern in the size that fits my waist and hips and do a full-bust adjustment. My intuition that I should make the pattern in the largest size corresponding to one of my measurements was wrong!

I technically finished it, but I can’t figure out what is going on with the darts! Why does it give me weird dents? Any help would be lovely!

The dress looks very nice! The darts just run a bit too high over the bust line. Hard to tell from the picture, but it looks like the darts should finish at least an inch lower and possible a little closer to the side seams/further from the center front.

love the fabric and cute dress. The darts are too long. they should point to the bust apex not meet it.
