I got this novelty print linen material, and I thought it would make a cute day dress. I used v8380. I normally don’t like empire waist dresses, but this is cute. The zipper is on the side, and the tie in the front allows you to adjust how the upper body fits. The upper bodice and bottom skirts gather into the waist in the middle.

The fabric is pretty busy, so it’s hard to tell where everything is. I sort of like it that way, because I think the tie and all the gathering makes the chest area pretty busy and bulky. I think it can accentuate the chest area and draw attention to it, but I personally don’t like too much stuff going on in one area. I think having a dark and busy fabric camouflages all the business and allow you appreciate the dress as a whole.

I would definitely wear it on a day trip, and I think it would make a great maternity dress :)
