Description

I made this dress from Burda’s 02/2010 issue. Dress 125

This is my first dress. I am pretty excited and learning a lot.

I first made a muslin and had to do quite a bit of fitting in the back to make it work. I ended up adding a few darts to the upper back pieces and lengthening the other darts. I still need to go back and shorten the shoulder straps.

I LOVE it! I’m working on this dress right now too, and so glad to see how well yours turned out. I may need to do a little extra work on the back… it’s a good thing I checked this out before starting… fabulous fabric too! great job!

I JUST bought that fabric! I tried to make a dress with it, but had some problems and had to scrap it. I’m glad to see you made a dress with it successfully! I looks beautiful!

Very cute dress, great job. I have this exact fabric. I haven’t decided what to make with it, a dress of course.

This pattern was the reason I bought that issue. I love your fabric choice! I’m having such a hard time finding cotton sateen. A floral stretch cotton sateen is perfect. How do you like the low back? Does it pose any wearability problems?

I love the low back. It’s the reason I made the dress. I had to do some adjusting to the back in order to make it fit. I ended up making an entirely new dart on the upper back panels. I will take a picture of the pattern so you can see the changes. The only issue I am having with it is that the shoulder straps are too long. I think once a shorten them up it will fit perfectly. I would definitely do a test run with cheap fabric to work out the fitting issues in the back. The fabric I actually found at Joann’s. Glad you like it!

wow – it turned out really well ;) I’m working on this one right now. Not the dress really, cause I’m using only the uper part at the moment (I like fuller skirts). And it turned out that I am somebody between 34 and 36 and the smallest size they give is 36. So I had to do quite a lot of adjusting. And had the same thing with shoulder straps – but, luckily, I’ve noticed this before sewing it all together. And the same aboud the back – if I were a hunchback, it would fit, then. But now… well, we’ll see how it will work out for me, in the end ;D
