I spotted this Swiss satin cotton eyelet fabric in the Garment District and knew instantly that it would look great as a shift dress, my favorite silhouette. I thought that this would make a wonderful party dress for the rehearsal dinner of my upcoming wedding and decided to pair it with my new coral Prada patent leather pumps to add a pop of color. (And besides, I’ve always loved Miu Miu’s Spring 2006 RTW collection, filled with sixties dresses and coats in oversize eyelet.)
For me, the most meticulous part of making this garment was lining up the stripes during fabric layout and pinning to make sure everything would match up perfectly along the side seams and center back. I’m extremely happy with the results and can’t wait to wear it!
