Burda Style For people who sew

My niece, Sam, asked me to make her prom dress for her. It was a bit of a stretch for me, but I was happy with the result. More importantly, she seemed happy with it.
I based the dress off of one that she found online and liked, but with a few changes that she asked for and that I thought would be good. I made it without a pattern, mostly by draping it. She lives across the country, so making the dress was quite the challenge. We sent a couple of muslins back and forth for fittings. And, luckily, I got to be there on prom day. She looked great, and I was proud. I don’t know if I’ll do this again, at least not anytime soon!
