My fourth pair. As a surfer I have specific preferences in my boardshorts to not only present well but to be functional under stressful conditions.
They must be resistant to tearing, often contacting the reef and skegs, thus a heavier outer-material is required. The lining needs to adequately guard the legs from chaffing against the heavier material. However it must not slide against the outer material which can cause the surfer seated on his board to slide off. A functional, vented, wax/key pocket is needed. Flap-fly is preferred over velco-fly for comfort as well as sustainability.
This was made from a modified pattern I made from a dissected set of boardshorts that were my favorite until they ripped.
