I made my first circle skirt during following Caseys’s Elegant Musings Sew Along. It was really great to follow: I learnd a new way to insert the zipper and to attach the waistband. I used a fabric (heavy cotton-poly-mix in navyblue) that I stocked for two years, waiting to use them for the right project. The blue color inspired me to craft the skirt with sailor look. So I added two white stripes parallel to the hemline and fixed two little bows. Another detail is the white cotton with rosy-roses-print as lining for the waistband. The skirt is not lined, but I sewed a “second” circle skirt out of very light white cotton to wear him as underskirt/petticoat.
I’m so happy with the result that I’m looking forward to every day and event, I can wear them.

It’s so lovely. Navy is my favourite colour to sew clothes with and I love the double trim of white ribbon and tiny bows. May have to shamelessly copy you! Well done, it’s gorgeous. x

Thank you so much! (: And I would feel proud to see a “copy” of my skirt! I get so much inspirations of projects that are published here. From yours, too!

Beauuuuutiful! Love the way you’ve taken quite a girly skirt style and made it more preppy chic. The bows are a lovely touch too.

I love this, every detail you included is absolutely perfect. The white ribbon is charming, the bows are darling, the rose print interfacing is delightful – and the pictures are so artistic. Great work!

I love this so much I want to make this EXACT skirt! Haha. But it probably won’t happen given my long list of sewing to do!

So cute, so nice! (like always) Love your details (bows, strips, and lining fabric), but what is the lonesome button for?

Thank you so much for the always nice words! (:
The lonesome button is “my sign” for clothers I made by myself. Not really fancy, but after some years of sewing my own clothers now I love to put a little special button on a finished project. Maybe, with the right idea, I will change “my button” to another sign anytime …

Those two bows are such a great detail! Your underskirt is just as beautiful as the actual skirt. Great job!

I love the idea of sewing a separate underskirt instead of attaching it. Then you can use it again. Great job!
