I made a baby quilt last week using sailboat quilt blocks which inspired me to make something else with a sailboat block. I decided to alter a pattern from the book, Thread & Bobbin, to make a beach tote.
I used denim and cotton canvas.
The tote has a large inner pocket and the size of the bag can be adjusted using the ties on the sides. It fastens with a magnetic snap.

Lovely – and it’s big enough to carry the grocery home. These bands and bows are a good idea for making the opening wider or narrower, so it is not so easy for a strange hand to grab into it!
