This is the “Sadie” tank top pattern from this site done in the fabric I stole from an old robe of my aunt’s which I inherited. It wasn’t actually stretch material so this shirt is a little too tight around the arms and chest for my tastes. But, it looks good. Better than the robe at least!
I have no idea what fabric this is. Some kind of stretchy but not elastic satin with plushy underside.

It looks really good. I’m trying to find a pattern for a really nice satiny oriental looking fabric… not sure I’m confident enough to try a dress yet because so far I’ve only successfully managed to sew one skirt, so I’m looking at tops. If it works with your kind of material I don’t see why it wouldn’t work with mine.

Yeah, the robe was terrible, but the material was so nice I couldn’t just give it away. There’s no zipper in this, it’s a little difficult to slip on over my head but no more difficult than the tons of medieval costumes I have lying around. I was thinking that a zipper would have been smart about halfway through sewing it, though, heh. What I’m going to do to this shirt is actually pick apart the side seams and sew in little triangles under the armpits to widen them and give a tiny bit more room for my chest, so hopefully it will be a little more comfortable than a second skin. It is a droopy fabric that stretches with use, though, so I’m not too worried about this shirt. :) Thanks!

This is a great use of your aunt’s robe – I love the fabric, it’s very beautiful. Did you add a zipper to help get it on?
It’s hard to get tank tops to work in a non-stretch fabric, in my opinion – hard to keep it from gapping and keep it comfortable at the same time!
Maybe it will stretch a bit while wearing? so that’s it’s not so tight.
It does look great!

I don’t think is too tight, I think it looks perfect on you, the color and the fabric are very nice!!

the fabric is super pretty, and it doesn’t matter if it is too tight when you look that good =D
