I made this dress to wear in October for the annual Navy Ball (celebrating the Navy’s birthday). This was the first time I had a really dress up, gala event to attend, and I knew right away what I wanted to make! This is based on the evening dress Audrey Hepburn wore in “Sabrina”. Mine isn’t as fabulous as the original was, but it still made me feel quite glamorous that evening! For the basic sheath, I used a two vintage patterns: one for the pencil skirt and another for the strapless bodice. The train I just made free-form and attached to a belt. The train can be bustled if needed (helpful when sitting in a car or in crowded rooms where the train was in danger of being stepped on!). The edge of the train I embellished with beads and clear crystal rhinestones. Read more about it on my blog: http://blog.caseybrowndesigns.com/2009/10/navy-ball-glamour/

This is really amazing, I really like this vintage style. I also love how you did your hair to match the dress. It’s awesome, I am sure you made some heads turn at the ball.
