this blouse was a pain with mistake after mistake, but i think that it was worth it in the end. I learned that bias cut organza is just a bad idea…next time the ruffles will be straight of the grain and cut a bit smaller width wise (i omitted the in-seam ruffle because the 2 previous ones were enough). i had to take this pattern in too, though not as drastically as my celeste dress (next time i’ll cut a size down to start). though it was a bit of pain, i love the rolled hem on the edge of the ruffle (i also rolled the bottom hem out of sheer laziness). Lastly, i had to cut the armholes bigger; they were barely big enough before the sleeve went in.
I plan to use it for a couple things. i originally planned to use it under a bridesmaids dress (it’s a conservative wedding), but i think that it would be a nice steampunk piece too.
stretch satin for the main part, striped organza for sleeves and ruffles, 1/2 inch pearl buttons

Beautiful fabrics and the blouse looks so amazing! And (not being narrow-ruffles-fan myself) I actually like the reduced number of them on your version – it makes it look neater, I think! Either way, it’s beautiful!

it is funny that we both had issues with this pattern. I guess it goes to show that no two bodies are alike! Yours looks great though! I never mastered the rolled hem…I might practice on another JJ.

ahh, mr. serger is fantastic at the rolled hem! though many sewing machines do a great job at it (check out your manual to see if it can do this)

This is gorgeous, and would definitely make a good steampunk piece!

Thanks everyone!
HeidiMW- follow the JJ pattern! you’ll have a lovely ruffly shirt in no time! i warn you though, bias cut sheer is NOT fun/easy to work with! (well at least for me).
