Flicking through a magazine this dress with a ruffle detail on the shoulder really caught my eye. I really liked the top part, rather than the whole dress so I thought, hang on, why don’t I have a go at making something like that as I had exactly that knit fabric in my stash. Was pretty brave for me as I only ever make stuff using a pattern, but I decided to have a go anyway and draft my own pattern and figure out a way to make the ruffle piece too. Well here are the results and apart from some minor fit issues I am pretty pleased with how it turn out and its pretty faithful to the picture. Making the ruffle was definitely the hardest part, stitching all those layers together and then figuring out how to attach it to the top, its not pretty on the inside, but it works!
Some black/white stretch knit fabric
