Again with the Ruby pattern! I liked it so much, I used it twice. This second pair of shorts is made from stretch denim, which was a little trickier to work with than I expected. Whatever problems I had were not important, though, because I love this cross-hatch, black-dyed fabric so much that I’m glad I have a ton left over. It’s an awfully classy denim.

I wanted a tighter fit than my first pair, so I cut out the same pattern size as before but tapered the leg. I probably should have also cut out a smaller size, because I kinda feel like this pattern runs big, but that might be just me. I left out the front pockets for a cleaner look, but added a pintuck down the front of each leg – my favorite pants EVER have front pintucks, so this was my lil’ homage to those pants. No belt and no pocket flaps so that it looks “denim-ier”, if you get my drift. I also overlocked the edges of the seams so when the cuffs were turned up, it would look right, and used the triple stretch stitch on my machine to embroider a star onto each back pocket. I <3 these shorts!
