This is a dress essentially made from a t-shirt pattern. I added a waist band and serged a 1 1/2" wide elastic in to it, and for the skirt I improved a simple aline. Use a twin needle to complete your sleeves, hem and neckline for a real professional finish. This dress has no zippers or buttons so it is as easy to make as it is to wear! It feels good to look luxurious in something so simple!
For this kind of dress you must have a stretch velvet, and I find it much easier to work with one that doesn’t have a nap.

Lovely dress. I’m not as experienced working with knits, no less stretch velvet, so I am impressed.
