I’ve wanted to make The Coffee Date dress for ages as it would be perfect to wear for work or for a trip to Starbucks with the girls. After finally finding some time during the holidays I decided to give it a go, and thanks to the Grosgrain blog and the Selfish Seamstress it all came together in time for 2011.
I’ve blogged my efforts at http://carolinecook.wordpress.com with a mini step by step guide, as well as the tantrums and hiccups along the way!
I used a lightweight navy blue cotton, in a similar cotton to Kate Middleton’s engagement dress.
For the belt I’ve used a white elastic although I note on the blog that i’d recommend using a thinner material as it’s quite hard to sew through!
Cool greys transition from summer to fall in a shirt dress, flowing maxi skirt, and new jackets.
8 patterns, a web seminar, and technique videos for sewing menswear.
