Tri Cities, Wash...
Was old. Now new.
I wore the old dress until the fabric faded and the seams split. It’s been hanging in the back of my closet, gathering dust for years now. For some reason I just couldn’t part with it. Instead of tossing it, I cut off the top and hiked up what was left to make both the bodice and the skirt for the new dress. I used strips from the old dress to make piping on the jacket.
I draped this jacket and the dress. My second draped project. That draping stuff they do on Project Runway is more complicated than it looks. It took me all day! I was pressing a few bubbly edges on the collar while the dress was still on the form when my 5yr old daughter came in and said, “It looks like Snow White’s dress!” I guess I’m subconsciously getting inspiration from Mr. Disney and his crew?
