Description

I was driving across the Icelandic Highlands, during the 10hrs bumpy ride I knitted a bow-tie scarf and matching headband in brioche stitch from Icelandic wool. I named the headband and scarf of the respective roads we were driving whilst I knitted them.

Material Notes

“Léttlopi” – a type of Icelandic wool (although any wool would do). I knitted a 2 threads together (for extra warmth) so I needed 2 skeins of 50gr/100m for the scarf and 1 skein for the headband.

Nice! I tried knitting a bow tie scarf from an old pattern, but it didn’t turn out so well. My yarn was very scratchy, and the scarf did not look as good as yours. I will find a softer yarn and try again. :)

I’m using typical Icelandic wool, so it’s super scratchy but extremely warm. However, the trick of the trade is to wash it with hair conditioner and it’s a lot softer.
