This is another project for textiles created by my friend Ryan and myself, our favorite!
We created a basic cocktail hat form from a muslin resist, fully felted and blocked to those styrofoam heads. Early on we knew that we wanted a peter-pan-pirate-couture look since this piece is going to be auctioned off at some society gathering for charity. After blocking I sewed on the sequin border all the way around, attached one lovely feather, and Ryan managed to get the tulle draped in a very chic way. I was not around to do the finishing touches, yet Ryan added the stiffener and elastic strap for wearability.
I am a bit sad that I will probably never see this piece again, or get to wear it- yet thats just more reason to make more! Maybe someday soon I could create more of these and tiny tophats for Etsy, I just need a hatform.
