I made these roses using the threadbanger tutorial on youtube. Here’s the link:

If you are like me and cannot follow directions to save your life, have no fear. I am still not really sure how I made these, but I just stuck with it. Keep trying, and you’ll be surprised to wind up with pretty roses! I got confused when she kept saying “the fold” in the video, so I just sort of started twisting the ribbons and smooshing them around the center. I also pinned the twists every so often to hold everything together, and then removed them after sewing. The pins with the colorful ball tips are best so you can see them clearly and don’t miss any.
A tip: satin or other slippery fabrics are a little tough. I sewed the first fold down to help hold it all together. It was wayyyyy easier when I used a stiffer, nubby fabric.
You can see tulle backing in the photos, but I ended up trimming it off because it was suuuuper itchy. The whole piece is glued onto felt backing cut in the shape I wanted the flowers to sit.
satin ribbon, some gold tulle-ish remnant
