i didn’t want to spend a lot of money on prom this year, so i decided to make my own dress. i was looking through a prom dress magazine, and i didn’t like much of what i saw, so i thought about the styles i’ve always liked. i really like old victorian clothes, so i chose to make the top of the dress look like a corset. i had recently started learning to belly dance (if you’re looking to learn something interesting, i recommend it!), so i got used to having a lowered waist and wanted that look on my dress. i added straps and decorative roses when i was done. i’m entering this dress in the sew jo-ann prom contest, wish me luck! =]
