Description

The pattern is No. 119 from Burda 8/2011, without modifications except that I made it fully lined, and put a handpicked lapped zipper instead of an invisible one, for a more “vintage” feeling.
I struggled a bit with the collar, but with the help of some handstitching it went fine!

Material Notes

Wool Papillon

This dress is lovely! And it fits you very well too. I’m looking for the pattern here on burdastyle.com but can’t find it. Any hints?

    Beautiful job.

I love this pattern and plan to do it in teal twill wool fabric. How did you line it? I was thinking of underlining only since the raglan sleeve and the pleats at the top seem tricky to line. Could you please show the inside of your dress to see the lining?

Thank you! I just finally uploaded a photo of the inside. For the upper front part, I made a new pattern piece, converting the top pleats into a single bust dart. Then I stitched the neckline facings directly onto the lining and joined dress and lining at the neckline. The facings for the armhole and sleeve were sewn to the dress on the outside before putting the lining in, and stitched to the lining inside later, without turning them over. Does that sound logical? Let me know if the explanations are not clear enough!

I love this pattern and it looks wonderful on you. You have made it beautifully and the fit is perfect. Well done. I plan to make this in a gorgeous silk brocade that I have in my stash and I hope mine turns out as well as yours.

I love the detailing on this – you did such a great job and it fits you so well! I must try a hand picked zip too.
