I saw little rooster pincushions for sale at a quilt show recently and I thought they were so cute, but I didn’t want to pay $5 for a tiny one. So I decided I would love it even more if I made my own out of my own stash of fabrics. I found the instructions on the internet at http://www.web-goddess.org/archive.php/postID/2529. I made mine out of 5.5” squares and used prairie points for the beak, comb, and tail. For the eyes, I used some alphabet beads of the letter ”O”. I stuffed it with steel wool and foam batting. (I read somewhere that using steel wool will keep your pins sharp.) I positioned the steel wool towards the chickens’ back because I didn’t want to stab pins into his chest – it felt to voodoo-like. This way, I can pretend I’m giving him acupuncture instead. Now his “O” eyes say, “Squawk! You stabbed me in the back! Ooh…but that feels good!”
