I used the vogue pattern 8280 to make this dress. I really like the style. It took me three days to sew it, and loads of hand sewing. I quite like the way it turned out, but I think I will go with a stretchy fabric next time.

thanks a million girls. I am so happy and grateful for the compliments. phew…i almost cried when i was sewing this dress. Very stressful experience this was lol… I will keep my eye out for a bolder colour next time i am out fabric shopping.

This is so beautiful! Yes, stretch will look just as gorgeous. I agree with Theresa Hawkins. A bolder color would be so nice. To me maybe a Royal Blue or a very berry burgandy. Your skin color is very pretty.

Hot hot hot hot!!! What a gorgeous dress. The sleeves are beautiful and it fits you so well! The fabric is gorgeous as well, but I would imagine that a stretchy fabric in a size smaller would look sooo hot on you.

I have never really done anything with stretch fabric. I hear its tricky, but i’ll definitely try …lol

Knit fabric (what jumpers are made out of) is hard to work with and I avoid it like the plague! Don’t use that!
But you can get fabric that is very similar to what you’ve used (eg wool with 5% elastane or lycra or whatevery), so it has the look of a normal fabric but it stretches a little bit so you can make things really tight fitting without being uncomfortable. That’s what you should use!

Beautiful job. Interesting detail on the sleeve. If you do get around to remaking in a stretchy fabric, I’d love to see it in a little bolder color. You have the most gorgeous skin tone and a bolder color would look great.
