Brooklyn, New Yo...
I went back and forth between paper drafting and draping on this design, a silk brocade kimono coat. It was originally intended to be a cocoon coat, but the fabric wanted to go its own way. I redid the dart/pleats in the back for 3 days. I wanted it to have that blousing effect on the back as if wearing an obi, but without any belt.
The styling was inspired by Gothic 1920s Rococo fashion.
