Two weeks ago, I had two special dress up occasions in one weekend. The first was a gig at which my boyfriends band (he plays bass guitar) lanched it’s cd. They’ve got one song with an Arab influence and because of that, a friend (who’s also a band member’s girlfriend) and I decided to make belly dance outfits to show our support. Of course, I know this is by no means a ‘real’ belly dance outfit, although I got the idea of doing a long and super wide tiered skirt from a website about belly dancing. The band plays a mixture of metal and hardrock, so I also wanted to match that. So basically, it’s just the skirt (So much gathering… argh…) and a very simple cropped tank top with the band logo and a bead ornament sewn on.
jersey for the top, cotton viscose mix (I think) for the skirt

I did a search for belly dance and found this. I love it!!! There are so many styles of bellydance now that Rock Bellydance doesn’t seem out of place. I personally am more moved to move by metal than most music. I love what you did to the shirt, very good idea.
