Rock and roll petticoat made for my niece. She was trying it on over her denim shorts in these two photos. The stretch fabric was a bit of a mistake at first. It is really pretty, but because of the stretch and because the top layer is a circle, the petticoat sagged on two sides with the weight of the next two layers (which are long rectangular strips). I fixed this by sewing in a taffeta lining cut to the same size and shape as the original circle layer.
stretch glittery mesh, lining taffeta, satin bias binding

I’m considering making one of these for a friend’s wedding coming up, to sit beneath a full-circle skirt. Is the general idea to use longer strips of fabric the further down the skirt you go, gatering more and more with every step? Any tips would be really helpful! I plan to use chiffon to do mine… don’t know if that’s a good fabric for it or not.
