Description

I like reusable shopping bags, and it makes me happy to have pretty ones. This bag took about 1 1/2 hours to make, later ones took less, probably about an hour.

Material Notes

Cotton exterior, I cut up a black sheet to make linings for several of these.

I used this tutorial:

For later versions, I modified the gusset and made the pocket a bit smaller. The tutorial is very well done.

This bag is almost exactly like Simplicity 2806. I almost thought it was a rip-off until I read the tutorial… the person who made that really thought it through. It’s sewn differently than the Simplicity one, but the results are nearly identical. And I love the french seam in the bottom — I added that to the ones I made even though the pattern doesn’t call for it. I just wanted the whole thing to look “finished”. Anyway, great bag!
