This is a dress I made for one of my graduation celebrations. I made it using 1 1/4" (or 1 1/2" ) satin ribbons. I bought myself a roll of champagne and about 30 yards of black. I did not use all but I got through most of it.
I’ve uploaded the inspiration dress design which I saw on a UK site I believe. I don’t think they used ribbons to produce the effect but that’s what the dress looked like to me.
I really love to use ribbon in my work as well, like a trademark.
The dress was made by making a shell out of a sturdy material (I used twill). Darts were put in and the side seams were joined. The back stayed open till I attached all the ribbons. I added ribbon piece by piece up the dress carefully layering for about a 1/2" overlap. WHAT A LENGTH PROCESS! but a wonderful result.
I hope you guys like it!

This is great! I agree that yours is totally better than the original dress – the lines down the side and the black band at the top give it much better lines. I can’t imagine how long it must have taken to sew all those seams, beautiful work!
