reversible summer hat

Utrecht, Netherl...

I’m going on a long trip to sunny places this fall, I’d love to bring my awesome straw hat, but its just a bit complicated keeping it nice when backpacking.
So I’ve been looking for a fabric sun hat to bring along that I can just stuf in my backpack.
The ‘sun and rain hat’ from Lorenna looked like a good one. And I was inspired by ‘asf’ to make one that was reversible.

The result is really nice! allthough it’s a bit big… The pattern said it would fit a 22 inch head, and since my huge head is 23,5 inched I added a few millimeter to each piece. But it turned out to be quite a big hat. Because it’s reversible I cant just stick some elastic on it.
I have to think about how to fix that…

Susan, Thanks! I already figured it out and found a way to get some elastic inside on the back, which helped a lot! But either way: thanks! :)

this looks very chic on you. If you wanted to make it a little smaller you could sew a channel around the cap part of the hat close to where it meets the brim and insert some elastic. I would first measure it against my head to get the correct length so its not too tight, you don’t want to have a line on your forehead when you take it off. hope this helps :-)
