Burda Style For people who sew
Description
This wonderful double-face fabric was a must when I saw it in the store, but then I didn’t know what to make with so that the double-face would really come into play. Finally I realized that it had to be a really simple pattern and took it off a summer garment I own. The original is made from a very light white cotton and I wear it over sleeveless tops and over basically everything and every day… So I made a Fall version of it, optimized the cut a little bit and made it reversible by using French seams all over. I left the selvedge raw for the sleeves and collar. There must be at least 203 ways to wear this! Wow – sometimes I see a garment someone has made on Burda and get a very severe and ugly case of the ‘want-sies’! What a really great shirt/cardigan in just the most fantastic fabric. Really simple in concept, but pleasingly wide range of ways to wear it and make it look really different. Very cool; modern and un-pretty in the best way.

So sorry for the late answer! I think it must have been 2 meters, a width of 1,40… It takes a lot of fabric, because of that shawl-collar. But you could make it narrower, too! Have fun with it!

I love it too. I agree with all the others, it would be lovely to check a pattern in order to figure out how the collar piece is cut….

I love it! The folds of the collar give the illusion of a separate scarf. Looks great! If you’re not sure you want to put up a pattern, how about a tutorial!

Thank you! I took the “crazy” pic so you can see the shape of the front bodice pattern piece a bit better… It’s cut on the fold, the fold being the center back collar…
PS: Yes, cardigan – but I thought they are always made of knit fabric…

Oooooh thank you!!! Well, I’m hesitant about putting up a pattern, since I pretty much copied it off a rtw… Not sure how much would have to be changed for that to be ok…
