We had a Cutting for Stretch project at college, and this is one of the things we had to make. It’s safe to say mine was the least skimpy in the class! I lengthened the legs and dropped the back instead.
The twin needle machines were very tempremental but I’m pleased with the result! I still need to sew the bow on it though :)
The blue one is a toile, and the black and white one the final costume, but I think I prefer the blue one!

well I don’t know anyone whos a size 12, everyone seems to be bigger or smaller! It’s very annoying, as making things in a size 6 would save on paper, fabric etc! …. and I could wear it all hehe!

These suits are awesome! I have been wanting to sew retro swimsuits for awhile now. Any advice for the patternmaking, cutting, and sewing stages?

we were given a swimsuit block, and had to alter it to our requirements. The sewing is tricky, mainly because you need the right machinery, I used an overlocker with “rubbering” on it, a twin needle machine with a binding attachment, and a plain twin needle. The same results could probably be re-created on a home sewing machine with a ballpoint needle and some careful sewing :)

the blue one is very cute! It needs the white bow stitching on it though :) I want to wear it but the college rule is that we always sew in a size 12, so sadly it’s too big for me. I might be able to work my magic on it though hehe.

Time to Gain some weight! :D How sad that you don’t get to sew in your own size. But I guess everyone in the world is size 12 so that’s the only size you ever need to learn.
