We thought the Satin panties and bustier pattern from 01/2012 would make an excellent bikini and this is the result. We love the retro feel of this bikini and it was really easy to make.
We made a few minor changes to the pattern, mainly the back of the bikini top as this piece is quite wide on the original pattern. Check out the instructions for details of the pattern changes. We also gathered the center front on the top.
The pattern has a great fit and we love the high waist retro bottoms!

Like the suit! I would need more support up top. I’ve often thought about taking a well-fitting bra and covering it with fabric to make a bathing suit top. It would require more handwork, but I don’t think it would be too hard. It would have to be a sturdy bra of course.

Man, the cut of those high-waisted bottoms is the best I’ve seen. If I were to make this, I’d probably opt for something more supportive up top. Also, that material is so perfect. Love it.
