Description

Project I made for a Simplicity competition. Altered a retro look blouse pattern into an evening gown. The dress is made of crepe back satin, underlined in organza, with a full lining, and hidden side zipper. The front and back neckline are accented with topstitching, and Swarovski crystals. The belt pattern I drafted myself, and channel stitched. I wanted the overall feel to be of a late 1940’s evening gown-glamorous and elegant. The channel stitching (or top stitching) was not a great idea for a synthetic satin. I think it would be so much easier to sew on a silk, but if you are patient, it is do-able. I won’t be trying it on polyester again, though!

Material Notes

Thanks! That was actually my favorite bit of the whole project! I would definitely make one again, for wear with a dress or pants.
