This dress is made from Simplicity 2180 in the style that originally called for three-quaters length sleeves. In the process of making this dress however, I realized that the sleeves might not be a good idea in the scorching Texas heat. I made bias tape and turned under the sleeves which turned out rather nicely. The hem is 1 1/4in and the material is 100% Cotton. There is an invisible zipper under the arm. Even though the pattern is not strictly called retro or vintage, the feel of the dress and the style that it turned out was very reminiscent of a retro style. The pattern was easy to follow, but the instructions for the putting in of the pockets were slightly perplexing. I am planning on wearing this dress to a party that my friend is having before she goes to school abroad.

It has pockets! I agree about the retro/vintage style.

You did a great job! That dress is perfect, and you look so good in it. Congrats. (I’m in TX too, so I know about the necessity for sleeveless this time of year.)

Beautiful dress, and I also think it looks quite retro (I think it is the fabric that adds a nice retro touch to it)! I like your dress more than the one on the pattern envelope!

Your dress is lovely, I really like the back and that it has pockets, which I have not tried to do yet. :)
