Instead of paying $150+ for a retro style bikini with a flattering high-waist I decided to make one myself.
Cost –
blue material (repurposed lycra men’s shirt) – $4.50 Rag-o-Rama
striped material (repurposed lycra panties) – $1.50
Ric-Rac trim – $0.97 – JoAnn Fabrics
Thread – $3.50 JoAnn Fabrics
Support material (repurposed strapless bra) – free
= $10.47 Total!
I used a repurposed lycra men’s shirt and 2 pairs of lycra underwear as fabric. I used a strapless bra as the wire frame for the top. Also, some ric-rac and nylon appropriate thread.

So inspiring- I have been looking everywhere for an affordable high waisted bikini set, the prices are just ridiculous.
