My most prized creation…
A simply retro shaped tube dress with a sweetheart neckline and zipper in back. The bust is a draped black crushed silk charmeuse. The cummerbund style waist is a fuschia crepe back satin. The bottom is a sheer houndstooth printed polyester…the real test of my ability…it’s completely canadian/lattice smocked by hand (which took me 3 weeks). I saw the style on a pillow once and thought it would make an interesting dress. The inside of the dress is completely lined and fetaures a fully boned corset. This dress is part of my ‘collection to be’. I didn’t use a pattern, nor did I even sketch the dress beforehand…mostly because I can only draw stick figures, so it came directly from my head. Also, I accidentally made it in my size so yay me!
Black suiting, boning, silk charmeuse, houdstooth polyester, crepe back satin, thread, binding, zipper

Thanks for sharing this wonderful craftmanship with us! Love to see examples of how smocking can be used on garments! Who’d thought that the technique on all those burgundy velvet sofa pillows can be so beautiful on clothes? :P
