Retro dress with embroidery

Added Jan 26, 2014

Nedre Vats, Norway

When it’s cold outside I love to wear wool garments. I had this long grey skirt and I decided to make a dress in combination with other garments. I found this red sweater in my wardrobe and cut of the sleeves and the neck (this is a mixture of cotton/wool). To “fresh” it a bit up I found some lilac rib jersey from my stash. I have used the waist of the skirt for the collar and I turned the sleeves upside down. My sewing machine is good for sewing embroideries, and I have sewn this for decoration. I have used some red and black wool band as well. The decoration band with pearls I got in a bouquet once and decided to use it as a belt in the waist :)

Material Notes

Wool and jersey

Garment Type
Casual, Preppy
Knits/Jersey, Wool

I’d say it’s a folk winter glamour:-) Very cheerful and well-combined as always. The embroidery makes the outfit really special and unites the colours well.

this is exactly the dress that I would have sewn with differents colors. It is the Kocotte’s style and I love it Do you have a machine to make the embroderies ?

That’s Nice to hear :) I’m not a patient person, so I have to use the sewing machine for embroideries :-)

It looks like you are having a lot of fun being creative!! I like what you did with the neckline. And the embroidery really finishes it off nicely.
