This is my version of Retro Butterick B5152, which is a 1948 reprint of a floor length nightgown. I decided to make version A (short sleeves) but left out the ruffles, as I felt they would take focus away from my chosen fabric. I made this using a gorgeous embroidered Chinese silk brocade which got a little annoying at times due the fraying, but it was so worth it. The pattern does ask you to put shoulder pads in which I haven’t done at the moment as i’m not sure if I want them? It also features nice & deep side seam pockets, hook & eye closures and a matching tie belt. This pattern was very easy to follow and had clear instructions/diagrams, definitely recommended!

Very nice, am working an a gwon as we speak. And had some adjustment to that aswell, just need to finisch up the last bits. Is youre belt (how would you call that) sewn to the gown? Could use some thips to finische mine, am not sure what to do next (burda 7765 http://sewing.patternreview.com/cgi-bin/patterns/sewingpatterns.pl?patternid=20225 )

Very classy and love the gorgeous print. Good choice not to add the ruffles.

such a fabulous project. I would put shoulder pads, it is part of the original, classic, etc etc , grand shoulder line.

Very pretty. I don’t think I’d be putting in shoulder pads! :D
