This was made from an old 60’s sewing pattern that my grandmother gave me some time ago. I never liked it but my daughter, in the picture, simply loved it and begged me to make it for her sorority dance. I guess she knew best. It turned out really cute and she wears it to other events as well.
I used a chocolate brown suiting fabric that had a sheen on one side and matte on the other, I used the sheen side for right side. Other than that it was just thread and a zipper and a few fittings to get it just right.

Oh my goodness! I HAVE that EXACT dress from a vintage shop (the black one on the sewing package.) Made of really heavy black wool (can you believe it?) The black wool did not really go with the pattern. But I loved the shape of it. The silky material is gorgeous and fits your daughter to a tee. Check out AnaJan’s version (she just posted one and links/credits your creation!

Wow, it came out beautifully! I’m glad that you included a picture of the vintage pattern, I love to see where creations come from. Although, this dress could really pass for something out of a current clothing store. It’s just classic :)
