Description

My daughter and I had attended a flea market she found some adorable vintage high waisted shorts that fit her perfectly, however, she couldn’t sit down in them…so I took on the challenge of making her a pair of shorts, my first ever. Using Decades of Styles patten, called Broadway Duet I made these shorts. I had to use velcro on the sides, as didnt know how to do button holes, as well as make changes to accommodate her taste.

Material Notes

Cranberry polka dot cotton.

Beautiful. I love the highwaist look. Suits more people, I think. I hate doing button holes, never use them if I can get away with it. Maybe a large hook and eye would be more durable than velcro (my velcro always collects ‘bit’ in it). I’ll have to divert myself and go look at that site link. ;) You’ve done a lovely job and they look fabulous!

I had a look at that site. Very nice things. I also realised I aready have some of those patterns. Mine are original, so you have to play guessing games with them, just to make life interesting.

I quite agree with your comment on the high waisted look suiting more people. I’ll definitely will try the hook and eye route next time, thanks again

Sorry Wardrobe-cat, I went to comment on our last post, and hit the “inappropriate” button in error, (still a newbie) on burda, please forgive me. What I like about Decades of style is that they truly try to stick to original patterns of yesteryear while accommodating today’s market, and as newbie in the sewing arena, I’m grateful.

That’s the second time it’s happened to me :( I didn’t even know that that’s what it ment!
Having all the modern markings make life easier. I get a lot of my patterns from old books and estate sales so am used to it. Vintage Vogue patterns are good too, in that they have modern sizings. Don’t have to resize EVERYTHING!
