I fished out an old ankle length skirt from my mother’s wardrobe. I am definitely a fan of high waisted skirts and luckily she has lots from the ‘80’s/’90’s. First I cut off a lot of the length which I just folded over into three pleats arbitrarily and then I unpicked the waist band and side seam to insert this pleated-detail. I then hemmed the bottom and the lining. I was inspired by an Oasis dress with a similar detail.

This is SO pretty. The high tailoring/feminine ruffles look works excellently with the grey fabric. I’ve just redrafted an A line skirt pattern into a pencil skirt – the pleated insert would look super cool. Thanks for the inspiration!
