This coat was from a charity shop for £6 ,and lasted me all last winter . The only thing I didn’t like about it was the itchy fabric , and since it had a mandarin style collar ,it inconveniently scraped on my chin and neck all day . So …. I decided to re -do the collar and cuffs and add nice soft faux fur to the inside and outside .
I’m sure that the way I have constructed the collar is technically unsound . I did get some advice from the forums ,like using button hole thread and shaving the fur at the seams , but the rest of it I just did my own way . I even put some bits of folded oil cloth (wierd thing to do i know lol ) inside the back of the collar to stiffen it . Over all I’m delighted with it , it feels like a completely different coat , and now its November , its lovely and snuggly.
Cheap faux fur ( i believe it was called 'fun fur' in the shop) , grey button hole thread, scraps of oil cloth
