Olive turned two a couple of weeks ago, and we had absolutely no money, so I made her a couple of gifts, instead.
This coat was made using an old suit from the thrift store that I bought for a Halloween costume years ago, and is lined with fleece from a oversized vest that was never worn.
I made the pattern on the fly (which took forever to figure out), but it was inspired by many different toddler jackets I’ve seen that I’ve wanted to get her. I just could never bring myself to shell out so much money for something she’ll grow out of in 4 months! I’m pretty happy with how it came out. I just wish I made it a little bigger, and a little longer.
I wanted to get some cute birthday balloon pictures, but toddlers are so uncooperative! She was super cranky before her party, and the only way I could get her to stay still was with crackers haha

Very cute! What a lucky little girl to have such a creative mommy. At least you have made it once, so you can recreate it in a larger size later on.

gorgeous – having no money makes one quite resourceful and creative. i’m sure you’ve alrready had people admire your coat, wondering where you bought it!

This is one of the cutest two-yr-old jackets I have ever seen. Really. What a talented and thoughtful mama you are! She looks like a Burberry baby but the tag is priceless!

It’s awesome!!!! that’s exactly what I would have done!! there’s no since in buying stuff that you can just create out of other things and plus you will never find such a custom look!!! Great Job!

It’s adorable and I’m quite sure it looks better than any expensive coat you could have brought her. Even better, it’s more special because you made it for her. Great job! It’s adorable. I love that it’s taliored but casual and girly at the same time.
