When in Newtown recently I bought a very long, large kaftan. I chopped off the bottom, added a few darts and hey presto a skirt. I kinda have an exposed zip – it was less work than putting in a back seam. I really like it. I also made life easy by using bias tape on the waist, thus eliminating a waistband. The top part of the kaftan will most likely be made into a jacket for my sweet toddler.
vintage (?1970s) canvas type cotton.

I like your skirt – it is pretty, springy and for sure comfortable! And the exposed zipper gives it a little “extra”, too! Doesn’t look like presto at all.
