Burda Style For people who sew

Ah, so much work has gone into this!
I followed a Vogue Valentino original pattern from (I believe) 1971.
I used the matt side of satin crepe, red silk lining and interlining, as well as fusible interlining. Loads of layers and almost one year of hard work.
It is a deux piece I am really proud of and which I managed to wear it this year’s Valentine’s Day, after having started it last year in February.
The suit features shaped collar, side front and side back insets, sleeves with bias turn-back cuffs, saddle stitching round main curves/stitches with silk threat in four, pocket flaps. The A-line skirt tucked into waist-band has centre front inverted pleat stitched to hipline; zip at the back and button fastening.
The buttons are all Vogue to go nicely with the pattern.
